Liam Eliot Pennington is born

Liam Eliot Pennington

Our much loved celebrity poetry editor, Shaindel Beers, gave birth this afternoon to Liam Eliot Pennington. Mother, child and father are well, healthy, and exceedingly happy, according to all reports arriving steadily from Contrary’s Pacific Northwest bureaus.

Shaindel was not to be outdone by Fiction Editor Frances Badgett, who gave birth to Cora Cuornoyer in December while reading submissions for the winter issue, and we think Contrary might be done peopling the world for at least a few months.

If you’d like to read what Shaindel’s life was like as poet, teacher, and pending mom, she was the guest writer this month for the ongoing “How We Spend Our Days” series at Catching Days, the blog of our review editor, Cynthia Newberry Martin.

Welcome to the world, Liam!

Yes, welcome to the world, Liam–contrary right from the beginning, refusing to turn and causing commotion.

    Thanks for the mention, Jeff.

    Cynthia,

It might be that this is what Liams/Williams do (from what I’ve heard), or my doctor is convinced that boys are problematic 😉
